I want to make this bonus episode for the woman who's struggling with food. I just want to remind you that you deserve to eat food always. That's why in today's episode, I want to give you all the scenarios where you may think you don't deserve food, but you actually do.

Remember that food is going to fuel your results and help you build a body that you want. That's why I'm going to crush your negative mindset around food in this episode. But first, you know I had to share the [inaudible 00:01:11] review comes from Nikki Vips. She gave a five star review and said, "Wow, only a weekend and I'm hooked. I usually listen to music during work, and now I don't turn off Embrace Your Real. This helps me with myself, my business and my family life. Thank you, Julie, for helping my confidence."

Wow. Thank you so much. I love that you are tuning in at work. That makes me so happy. I would absolutely love to see where all of you guys are tuning in. Please screenshot either you listening to the podcast or screenshot what you are looking at or where you are when you're tuning into the podcast and post it up on your Instagram story and tag me, Julie Ledbetter, tag Embrace Your Real account. We love connecting with you guys all over the world. It is an incredible community and I cannot wait to continue growing this community over this next year.

Let's dive into the five scenarios that you deserve food. Number one, you still need to eat if you've gained weight. Remember that eating less will not help you lose weight faster. Let me say that again. Eating less will not help you lose weight faster. Eating less could actually help you hold onto the weight that you gain, believe it or not, because your body needs enough food for you to lose weight. 1,000 calories isn't enough. 1,500 calories probably isn't even enough.

I have to remind you to break the mindset that eating less actually helps you lose more weight, because remember we're in this for the long haul. Even if you significantly decrease your caloric intake for a short period of time, you may instantly lose water weight, but that's not necessarily actual fat that you're losing and likely you're going to gain all of that back plus more when you start eating more food.

Number two, you still need to eat even if you feel like you've eaten too much. Just because you ate way too much at breakfast, doesn't mean that you don't deserve to eat lunch. Please, please, please do not fall victim to this mindset. Just because you ate way too much over the weekend, you still deserve to eat food during the week. Just because you feel like you ate too much, you still deserve to eat food. Don't fall victim to this mindset, this toxic mindset is this all or nothing mentality that can lead you down this vicious cycle of restricting and then going all out and binging and overeating like crazy and then going into that cycle. It's going to do nothing but leave you more frustrated, more upset and more confused.

Number three, you still need to eat even if you ate something "unhealthy". You don't need to make up for the unhealthy food that you ate by not eating or eating less. This will just do more harm than good. No matter what you ate, if you feel hungry, please eat. Don't tell yourself that because you ate pizza, now you don't deserve to eat. You do. You always deserve to eat. Please do not fall victim to this mindset either.

For a decade of my life, you guys, this was me. This was me in high school. This was me in college. I constantly told myself that I wasn't deserving of food if I allowed myself to eat something unhealthy and it was such a sad mindset that I found myself in. It really ruined so much of my high school and college experience. I'm not one to dwell on the past because I believe that everything that we go through has the opportunity to teach us a lesson for our future. But please, please, please, if you are struggling with this, please remember that you always deserve food. You always deserve to eat. That mindset is not going to serve you.

Number four, you still need to eat even if you don't have the perfect food available to you. This is a struggle that so many of us women have. We believe that if we can't find exactly what we need, then we shouldn't be eating. Remember nourishing your body is going to look different from day to day. Some days nourishing your body is going to simply be eating the food that's available around you instead of depriving your body of food altogether. It's not about being perfect. It's about being consistent. Sometimes to be consistent, you have to do it imperfectly and that's okay.

Number six, you need to eat even if you haven't moved your body today. The amount you move or workout does not equal whether or not you deserve to eat. Your body always needs food no matter how much or little you have moved.

Did you know that the average woman's body burns around 1,400 calories just for basic functioning? If you were to lay on the couch all day long and not move one muscle, your body is still burning calories. Please don't let the amount of exercise dictate whether or not you deserve to eat food.

Number six, you need to eat even if you don't like the way that your body looks right now. Not eating is not going to help you love your body more. It's likely going to make you love your body less. Because remember that we oftentimes feel our best in our bodies when we're nourishing our bodies with what it needs. When we give ourselves the energy that we need to thrive in our bodies. If we treat our body the way it's meant to be treated, we will naturally begin to love our bodies more. Not eating and depriving our body is a form of hating our body and it's impossible for us to hate our way into a body that we love. Remember that. It is impossible to hate our way into a body that we love.

Number seven, you still need to eat even if you don't feel hungry. If you want to build the body that you want, you need a certain amount of calories, fats, carbs, and protein. Remember that when you properly fuel your body, it will work 100% of the time that you apply it. When you don't properly nourish your body, you make it so much harder on yourself. Please don't do that.

I want to encourage you to eat even when you're "not in the mood". Of course you don't have to just eat to eat. I want you to be mindful with it, but it's really important that you remind yourself that food is fuel and it's there to give you energy. It's there to help you build the body that you want so that you can feel your absolute best in your body.

Let's recap that. You still need to eat even if you've gained weight, you feel like you've eaten too much, you ate something unhealthy, you don't have the perfect food available to you, you haven't moved your body today, you don't like the way that your body looks or you don't feel hungry. Like I mentioned above, just knowing how to properly nourish your body can truly help you break free from your mentality of this I don't deserve to eat.
