Hello and welcome back to another bonus episode of the Embrace Your Real podcast. Now, I know one of the biggest struggles that many of you face is binge eating, overindulging, overeating, or whatever you want to call it. For the sake of this episode, I'm going to refer to it as overindulging, as I like to stay away from the term binge, but more or less, they are the same. They have the similar tendencies, because I know that you're frustrated and I know that you might not understand why you keep overindulging. Why do you do it? Why can't you stop? How can you break the habit? What should you be doing instead?

I have one simple answer for all of those questions, but before I dive into today's episode, I first wanted to share this super sweet review. It comes from runfastgoslo: "Health, Honesty & Honoring Women. Thank you for sharing your witness of authenticity, specific and constructive health and fitness and overall wellness advice and your personal journey. I've been listening since episode one and your voice has always been an encouraging, strikingly honest and honoring message for all women." Thank you so much. First of all, you are an OG. We are now in Episode 151, so the fact that you have been here since Episode 1 means a whole lot. So thank you, love you bunches, and I'm just so grateful for this community. Okay, so as you know, most of my five minute bonus episodes often go longer than the five minutes stated. But this episode, I will stay true to my word because the solution to stop overindulging is extremely simple. The answer is not to develop more willpower, not to develop more self-discipline, not to develop more determination. The answer is to not have cheat days and giving yourself designated days where it's okay to overindulge. The answer isn't to deprive yourself either because of the indulgences that you had. The answer is to simply nourish your body with what it needs.

When you feel the need to overindulge, it typically means that your body is screaming at you because it's undernourished. If you properly nourished your body, you wouldn't feel the need to do so. So stop trying to skimp on calories. Stop trying to deprive yourself of carbs. Don't try to eat as little fat as possible. Stop skipping out on eating protein. Don't cut out entire food groups or macronutrients, and don't avoid giving your body the nutrients that it needs. When you do all of these things, you will typically trigger yourself to overindulge because your body needs more food. When we hit this point of desperately needing more food, our body overcompensates because it doesn't know when it's going to eat freely again. But when we allow our body to eat freely and give it what it needs, we will greatly reduce our need to overindulge.

I used to go all day without eating. I would have class and work every day, and it was my goal that I would not eat a thing until I got home. But once I got home, I would eat everything. I would feel so ashamed for not having more self-control. I felt so ashamed that I ate so much. I felt so ashamed that I couldn't stick to my plan. I was confused and frustrated and felt so, so hopeless. Little did I know, all I needed to do was actually start eating balanced meals throughout my day and stop skimping out throughout the day, because that is what triggered me to overindulge at night.

So I want you to look at the meals that you're eating. Are they balanced? Are you eating enough carbs, fat and protein at each meal? These three macronutrients work together, and one should not be left out throughout your day. When you're incorporating these three things into your meal, you're likely going to feel more satiated and more satisfied. When you feel those two things, you will likely not feel the need to overindulge. Give it a try. I know how amazed you'll be. Trust me when I say that it is a game changer.

If you're unsure of what your body needs in terms of carbs, fat and protein, I've got something for you. My completely free e-book is available for you. It's a 39 plus page ebook that's just going to teach you everything that I learned when it comes to fueling my body properly. So I will go ahead and link that in the show notes, or you can go to www.juliealefbetter.com/free-ebook. Again, I will link that in the show notes so that you can easily go listen. But, girl, I am here for you. I know that it can feel frustrating, but typically in most cases, not all cases, but most cases, this overindulging comes from a lack of not fueling your body optimally for what it needs.

So once you learn what your body needs to properly fuel it, you will be incredibly astonished at what can truly happen from that alone. So be sure to click that link in the show notes. Thank you so much for tuning in today's bonus episode. I appreciate you and I'll talk to you in the next episode.

All right, sister. That's all I got for you today, but I have two things that I need you to do. It means the absolute world and I'm going to leave you with one last thought: The most beautiful women that I have met in my life are the ones who are completely confident and secure in being authentically themselves.
