A Friendly End-of-Year Reminder I Think You Need to Hear

LISTEN: APPLE PODCASTS | SPOTIFY | STITCHER

It is half way through November already! How did that happen already? It felt like fall just started and now it’s basically winter depending on where you are living now. So wild!

The holiday season is settling in, with Halloween passed and thanksgiving around the corner, if you haven’t caught the holiday spirit yet, it’s about time you do!

With that being said, I know when the holidays hit, there can be a shift in our motivation to stay on track and continue working towards our goals. That’s why in this episode of the Embrace Your Real podcast, I just wanted to share a friendly reminder for those who have goals they are working towards.

Okay, so what is this reminder I have to share with you?

The year feels like it’s almost over, right? It’s basically half way through November and that’s it’s December and then it’s 2023.

I know when the holidays hit, and we get slightly off track, it’s easy to just toss in the towel and say you’ll start fresh in 2023. Does this sound familiar?

You think that you’re already off track and there’s not that much time left in the year, so why not just get off track and worry about getting back on track January 1st?

Hey. Hey, beautiful human. Can I steal 5 minutes of your time? I have something super important to share with you, but I promise I'll be really quick. You're listening to my weekly bonus episode of Embrace Your Rail with me, Julie Ledbetter. I'm about to give you a quick tip for building your confidence, honoring your body and unconditionally loving your authentic self. Stay tuned. If you're ready to embrace a real. Let's get it. Let's go. Hello and welcome to another bonus episode. I cannot believe it is already halfway through November. How in the world did this happen already? I literally feel like I'm still kind of living in summer and I'm just starting to accept that it's fall and it's like, I definitely need a coat wherever I go. But yet, just a few days ago, it's already snowing. It's already snowed a few times here in Colorado. Thankfully, it doesn't stay, but it's basically winter depending on where you're living, which is so wild, like the holiday season is settling in with Halloween passed a few days ago, Thanksgiving right around the corner. If you really haven't caught the holiday spirit yet, it is time that you do. I saw this tweet the other day and someone said, Thanksgiving is a day, the holidays is a season and I will die on that hill and I think I will die on that hill, too. I am so all for that Christmas cheer. I'm all for decorating November 1st, if you like. We personally typically decorate, you know, second or third weekend in November. But I am here for it. I am here for all of the holiday things. But I know that the holidays can really shift our motivation and it can really shift our energy, especially when we're wanting to stay on track and continue towards our health and fitness goals. And so that's why in this episode I want to just kind of share a friendly reminder for those of you guys who have goals that you're working towards and you want to stay in a rhythm during the holiday season. But before we dove into this episode, I wanted to share this review. It comes from Robin in the Cut. She gave a five star review and said, My walking partner, this is such a great and inspiring podcast. Julie provides good information on working out and healthy eating options. She's super motivating and I enjoy listening to this podcast while doing my daily walks. Thanks so much Julie, for providing such great, consistent content. Love Yeah, well, I love you too, Robin. Thank you so much. I am grateful to go along your walks. I wish that I could walk with you in person. I am a huge believer in walking. I love it so much. I typically do it whenever I make all of my tiktoks and my contents. You can typically count on me being on my bed downstairs or outside walking. I just I love moving. I feel like I get so much inspiration when I move and so thankful that you tune in to the podcast while you walk. If you haven't already raided, interview the podcast. I'm going to ask if you could leave a rating interview. It really does help us out on the podcast and just helps this message spread to more women's ears, which is what we want. So thank you in advance for doing that. You can scooch over to Apple Podcasts and type in Embrace Your Real, and then you'll see the rating and review section on the bottom. Okay. So what is the reminder that I have to share with you? Well, this year feels like it's almost over. It's basically halfway through November. And then, you know, it's December and then it's 2023, which again, so crazy. I talked about this in a few episodes before. I still kind of feel like I'm in 2020. I don't know. Something about the pandemic just kept me in that year. So for us to be heading into 2023 is just crazy. But I know when the holidays hit, like we tend to get slightly off track. It's easy to just kind of toss in the towel and say that you're going to start fresh in 2023. Does this sound familiar? I mean, this is typically the pattern that we find ourselves in. Even if we've been in a good rhythm, it gets darker, it's colder, it's busy, it's the holidays, it's cozy. The last thing you want to do is like go work out and really be intentional with your nutrition. And oftentimes I think we get in this mentality where we think if we're already off track, well, there's not that much time left in the year. So why not just, you know, continue down this path and then January 1st, come January 1st or come January 2nd, you better believe I will get my butt back in the gym. You better believe I'm going to get back on track with nutrition. And I know that it feels like the year's almost over. But you still, if you are tuning into this on the day that it came out, you still have 51 days left. 51 that when you put it like that, that's a lot of days, right? That's a lot of time. That could be missed. If you are not being intentional with your health and nutrition goals, that is a lot of time for us to still get closer to our goals. So my advice to you is to not toss in the towel, not give up a lot. And truly a lot can happen in 51 days. What do you personally want to happen in 51 days? Do you want to feel stronger? Do you want to feel more confident in your body or do you want to feel so far from how you want to feel in your body and just call it quits and try to start again in the new year? I'm assuming that you want to feel stronger. I'm assuming that you want to feel confident. The girls that I talk to you on a regular basis, you guys are ambitious. You guys inspire me every single day. I know that you have big goals for your health and fitness. I know that you want to feel the absolute best that you can in your body. So here's the thing most of us will want to toss in the towel towards the end of the year because we. This all or nothing mentality. And I was a victim of this, you guys, for a decade of my life, I went into the holiday season calling it quits. You know, mid-November, I would try to stay on track the beginning of November and then kind of mid-November, too, especially Thanksgiving. And after Thanksgiving it was like, I'm just going to call it quits and I'm just going to do a free for all all in December. Well, I'm telling you that you will not feel your best. Does this mean you can't have fun? Absolutely not. If you have tuned into any of my podcasts, you know that I am a firm believer on sustainability. And sustainability includes fine, but sustainability also includes discipline. And so I want you this year to have a balance of that, right? I want you to to have the balance of honoring your body with movement, but also making memories and having fun. But I also know this mentality that we, you know, are so prone to get into and we think, okay, well, if, you know, one night we just eat as many treats as we want and then we'll just kind of make up for it with working out or we get onto the other end of the spectrum or we're like, Screw it, I've already gone off the track, so I might as well just continue down this path of comfort and comfortability, even though I don't feel comfortable in my body. It's what's comfortable in the moment. And then you start to skip your workouts and then you start to skip out. On being intentional with your water intake and your protein intake and really nourishing your body with what it needs. And so I want you to go into this holiday season with this motto. I want you to say, I'm going to commit to taking in perfect action consistently. I am not going to try to commit to take perfect action. I am going to commit to taking imperfect action consistently because it truly is all about consistency, even when you're not perfect. So stop trying to go into each week, especially after, you know, a week where maybe there is a few holiday parties. You had a family event, you had a work event, you had something with your kids or with school or whatever it is. And then you go into the next week and you're like, okay, well, this week, you know, this week totally went off the rails, but next week I'll get on to it. Or in a few weeks I'll get on to it. No, no, no, no, no. Try to take the next best step. Right. So if you if you just went crazy the night before, guess what? Tomorrow is a new day. It's a beautiful, clean slate for you. And I don't want you to feel guilty. I don't want you to do things out of guilt. I want you to go into the next day with celebration and intention, and I want you to say, okay, how can I honor my body today? Is that, you know, really being intentional with my water intake from the from the get go? Because I know that that's going to make me feel better. Is that me being intentional in carving out at least 30 minutes of movement so they can really honor my body? Is that me? You know, saying, okay, what are what are the meals and what are the snacks? And I can prep in advance that will allow me to feel full and energized so that I can power through whatever it is that you have going on. We are all busy. We have so much going on and I'm telling you that you absolutely can balance having fun and still staying on track and just know and this is something that I talk about often is this season of life right now. It might be different from what your season of life was even in September of this year, because things are different. But that doesn't mean you have to completely throw in the towel. So I want you to do all of these things not perfect, but consistently, consistently, consistently, consistently. And 51 days from now, I want you to look back and say, man, I went through that holiday season. I didn't do it perfectly, but I still kept pushing. I still kept trying to do the best that I could, given the circumstances that I'm under. And I know that it is going to and it has brought me better results than not doing anything at all. I want you to go into January feeling proud of yourself, not feeling like you completely was so vigorous in every aspect of your life that you didn't make any room for fun. But on the flip side, I don't want you to go into January saying and I threw everything out the window and I really cut it down a lot. And I don't want that for you. I don't want you to start a new year with that mentality. Right? So you could say something like this. I'm still going to enjoy the holidays. I'm still going to eat my favorite foods in moderation. I'm still going to do my favorite holiday things. You know, I'm still going to nourish my body. Whether that's utilizing the tool of macro accounting or being intentional with your water intake, or at least at the very minimum, you know, counting your protein to ensure that you're eating enough protein. I'm going to honor my body with at least 30 minutes a day. And that could be cleaning, that could be dancing, doing something fun. You know, it doesn't always have to be a workout, but I'm going to commit to that 30 minutes a day and I'm going to enjoy my holiday season and feel good in my skin doing it. I want that for you. I want that to be your. Motto. I want you to remind yourself of that. So if that's something that you write on a note that you see on a daily basis, whether that's something that you put on your mirror in the morning, in your bathroom, that you see every morning when you're brushing your teeth and you're getting ready, or maybe if you're in the car a lot, if you're carpooling kids, if you're, you know, commuting to and from work a lot or school or whatever things that you are involved in. I want you to see this every single day for the next 51 days. You are going to enjoy the holiday seasons. You're going to enjoy things in moderation. You're also going to prioritize honoring and nourishing your body with movement and nutrition so that you can feel your best. If you are looking for some motivation to committing, to nourishing your body and doing that through utilizing the tool of macro counting, I do have an online academy. It's called macro accounting, made simple online academy. And we just help you. We help you learn how to budget your food so that you can still eat all of your favorite foods, but also know exactly how much you need to nourish your body. If you want to learn more, you can have head over to macro counting made simple bcom again that's macro accounting made simple dot com. I will link that in the show notes so that you can easily go check that out. On the second part of that, if you are committing to really honoring your body with movement for at least 30 minutes a day and you want to have some sort of structure, I always tell people that if you go into a season, especially the next 51 days, yes, you can go into the next 31 days with intention of moving your body. But if you don't have a plan, you're likely going to see random results, right? Random workouts equal random results. So if you at least want to have some sort of structure, even if it's for three days a week, I have a dumbbell only workout program. It's called Movement with Julie. I give you five brand new workouts every single week. All you need is a pair of dumbbells, a small space, and your phone. It is so simple. It is honestly one of my favorite times of the year to do dumbbell workouts. I know that sounds kind of funny, but it's true because I just head downstairs in my basement, I kick out my workout, I get it done, even if it's cold, even if it's, you know, dark outside. And it's just amazing to know that I can get a killer workout in my house without ever having to leave my house. So it if it's snowing, if it's, you know, frigid cold outside, I don't have to worry about that. Like, I literally can go downstairs in my pajamas and get a workout. And so if you want to check that out, if you are wanting to commit to a plan for the next 51 days and really head into the new year, I've got that for you can head over to sale that's Sally dot movement or Julie dot com I will also link that in the show notes below. But if you join this month, your first month is 50% off, so it's ten bucks for your first month. You get five burning workouts every single week as well as two workouts a day. So a full workout, which typically takes subscribers anywhere from 45 to 55 minutes to complete. And then we also have a shorter version, which is our 30 minute variation, which takes people on average anywhere from 25 to 32 minutes to complete. So we've got options for you depending on your time constraints all at scale. That's Sally dot moon with Julie dot com again I will link to in the show notes below. I hope that this was just the pep talk that you needed to encourage you to power through the next 51 days. Strong. I want you to set intentions. I want you to be proud of yourself. Know that it's not going to be perfect. No. That it might look different from the rest of the year, but know that you can and you will do this and you will go into January feeling proud of the things that you accomplished in the remainder of November and December. I love you. I'm cheering for you. If you have a friend or a sister or someone in your life that you feel like would really benefit from this episode, you can always send it out to them.
