Hello, hello, and welcome back to another bonus episode. I'm so excited that you are here. There are three things most women do simply because they think it will help them finally feel better in their body and help them build the body that they want. Unfortunately, these three most common things that they're doing will not help them feel better in their body or even help them build the body that they want. So in today's episode, I'm going to reveal what those three things are, and maybe you're doing one of those three things. Let's find out.
But first, I want to share the super suit review. It comes from larina_teacher. She gave a five star review and said, "My new favorite podcast. So thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I love you for that. Let's dive to today's bonus episode.
Number one, you need to stop depending on the next health hack to get the body that you want. If you do not have a solid foundation for fueling your body, no health hack, no special diet, no fancy health food, or supplement is going to help you. You have to remember this. Building your health is like building a house. Starting your health journey by going keto, or vegan, or paleo, or intermittent fasting, or doing any of these trendy health fads is honestly like trying to build a roof to your house before you've built any walls. It's not going to work. It's not going to give you a solid, healthy foundation before anything else.
So once you build the foundation, you'll likely realize that you don't need to have any of those things above to see results. So what exactly does consist of a healthy foundation, like building a healthy foundation for your health? First eating the right amount of protein, carbs, and fats daily for what your body needs based on your goals and where you're currently at. Second, drinking at least 100 ounces of water daily, if possible, at the very bare minimum, doing 0.67 times your estimated body weight. That's going to be the minimum amount of water that your body needs daily. Third thing, getting enough sleep. Enough is going to differ from person to person, but somewhere between seven to eight hours a night if possible. And lastly, moving your body daily in some way shape or form, honoring your body with movement.
There are no amount of supplements, fancy health foods that you buy or fad diets that you follow that will bring you the same results as simply building a solid health foundation. If you do these four things, building the healthy foundation, you do not need to intermittent fast, go keto, spend money on all these different supplements. You don't need any of that to build the body that you want and feel confident in your body. I'm telling you, build the healthy foundation and you will save so much time, so much energy, and so much money.
Number two, you need to stop believing that the latest fashion trend will make you feel better about yourself. Truly, you do not need to spend $700 on getting your eyebrows microbladed or getting Botox. You do not need to spend money on getting your teeth whiten, getting your nails done, getting facials, getting waxed, any of those things. You don't need to do any of those things to feel better in your body. That's honestly a lot of money to spend monthly on trying to feel more confident in your body. I truly think it's great if you want to do any of those things. And I personally love getting my hair done. That's one thing that I will splurge on every few months, simply because I love it, but you don't need to do any of those things to feel confident, feel validated, or feel better about yourself. Your real authentic self is just about being beautiful without any of those things. Of course, spend the money if you want to. Spend the money if you have it on those things, but you don't need to. You don't need to do those things.
I know, for me, if I didn't get my hair done every few months, I know that I would still be me, and I'm not better or worse because of it. You also don't need to buy every piece of clothing that your favorite fashion or fitness blogger posts on to know it. I know that's a controversial statement, but I'm telling you guys, these keeping up with the Jones type of post that we see all over TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, it's not only is it getting us more and more into debt with spending money that we don't have, to impress people that really don't care. And at the end of the day, we are trying to buy all of these things to remind us that we're beautiful, or to give us validation, when in reality, they might give you a surge of excitement for maybe five to 10 minutes, but you're not going to feel any different. It's not going to make you feel more confident. It's not going to make you feel better about yourself long term. Really it's the attitude that comes with it.
So whether you are wearing the latest and greatest Nike shoe for your workout, or you're wearing a five year old shoe, it doesn't matter. It's the attitude that you have when you wear it. If you wear it with confidence, that's truly all that matters. So the next time you try to do any of those things that I just mentioned above, ask yourself, am I doing this because I want to do it, or am I doing this because I feel like I need to do it in order to look beautiful or feel validated?
And number three, you need to stop thinking that the only way to lose weight, build the body that you want, and feel more confident is by undereating or overtraining. I know this was me for a decade plus of my life, and I wish I would've learned this truth. In fact, if you truly want to build the body that you want, this is honestly the worst combination that you can do, undereat and overtrain. Undereating alone will trigger you to have a slow metabolism. And overtraining alone will also trigger a slow metabolism. Put those together, and you're creating a disaster for yourself.
That line alone, you guys, I wish I would have learned that because that would've saved so much time, so much energy, and so much stress. Stop making things harder than they need to be. You don't need to deprive yourself and drain yourself just to build the body. That you want that will not make you feel more confident. That will not bring you lasting results. And honestly, it will not bring anything good into your life. All it will likely do is kill your metabolism and probably lead to weight gain if I'm being 100% honest with you.
Building the body that you want should not feel hard. If it does feel hard, then you're likely trying to build a body that's not natural for your body. And when I say hard, I mean, it's exhausting. It's something that you are dreading. Of course, there's going to be times where it's going to be a challenge. And I believe that it's important to challenge ourselves, but I feel like the moment that we are doing something that we are absolutely dreading, number one, we're not going to stay consistent with it. And number two, we're just going to be wasting our time and energy.
So we want to find something that brings us excitement. And of course, what challenges us in ways and staying consistent will challenge us. And there's going to be days where you're not going to want to do it, and you're going to have to dig deep, and really ask yourself, why am I doing what I'm doing? And is this enjoyable? Whether that's following your nutrition program, making sure that you're eating the food that you love and bring you joy. And even when you're doing that, yes, there's going to be times that it's a challenge, but it should never feel completely exhausting or something that you completely hate. If that's the case, then you need to reevaluate what are you eating that you're not loving, or what are you doing training-wise that maybe you're not into anymore. And it's okay to change. We go through seasons. There's ebbs and flows of seasons.
So really being self-aware is important there, but you will honestly find that once you start eating enough food and training the right amount, your results will skyrocket and you'll have fun doing it. Please do not make things harder than they need to be. If you don't know what the right amount of food or training is that you should be doing, I have two tools for you. Number one, I have my Macro Counting Made Simple Online Academy, which is the most comprehensive program that I've seen and the simplest approach that's going to help you and teach you how to exactly calculate the amount of protein, carbs, and fats that your body needs, as well as give you all the tools that you need to successfully track your macros, and overall enjoy the nutrition that you're having each day.
And then number two, for training aspect, my Movement with Julie app gives you the right amount of workouts, ensuring that you're not working out for too long or too many days per week. It really will help you hit that sweet spot when it comes to actually training your body properly so that you can avoid over or undertraining. You can get access to both of those things by clicking the link in the show notes, or you can just go directly to the website macrocountingmadesimple.com or my macro counting program, and just learning all about that. And then if you're interested about training, you can head over to sale.movementwithjulie.com. Both of those, again, will be linked in the show notes so that you can easily go listen.
But all in all, please remember the following. You do not need any health hacks, and you do not need to follow any health trends to see results. You just need to be following the basics to build a healthy foundation in your health and fitness journey.
Number two, you do not need to drop a bunch of money monthly to make yourself look more beautiful. You are already beautiful just the way that you are. Do not spend money you don't have to impress people that really honestly don't care. Put more energy and time into cultivating confidence, and start believing in yourself, and start believing that you don't actually need to spend X amount of money on all of these things to feel beautiful. And that in and of itself is super freeing and will likely, honestly, lead you to build the most authentic life possible.
And number three, you do not need to undereat and overtrain to build the body that you want. This is the formula that will slow down your metabolism, and it will likely encourage weight gain long term. This is not the solution for building the body that you want. You need to learn how to properly fuel your body and how to properly train your body. And if that's something that you need help with, again, I will link my Macro Counting Made Simple Online Academy and my Movement with Julie app in the show notes.
So I hope that this was helpful for you. I hope that this just gave you a dose of real talk. I know sometimes I need that little pep talk. And just remember, I am that sister there for you, whether you have a sister in your life that speaks truth to you, or if not, I am that sister in your life that will just remind you that these three things will honestly not actually help you "look better" or feel better. Really getting down to the root of each issue is the most important, ultimately.
If you have a friend or a coworker or someone in your life that you feel like would really benefit from this episode, I just ask that you share it out with them. Thanks so much for tuning in, and I'll talk to you in the next one. Love you.
All right, sister, that's all I got for you today, but I have two things that I need you to do. First thing, if you are not already following me on the gram, be sure to do so, juliealedbetter.
