Let's get it, let's go.

You're back for another bonus episode on the Embrace Your Real podcast. There are eight common numbers that we love to obsess about as women, and it's these eight numbers that stop us from embracing our body, accepting our body, and truly loving our body. That's why in today's episode, I want to make it extremely clear that these eight numbers, in fact, do not matter. But before I dive in, it would mean the absolute world to me if you quickly pressed pause in this episode and took a moment to subscribe to the podcast. This way, you will always be notified when new episodes release and you will never miss an episode when they come out. Plus, subscribing to the podcast helps the growth of the podcast. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Okay, so let's get back into the episode. Number one, how much you weigh. You know this, I know this, so why do you still obsess over this? I say this time and time again, but I know I need to keep saying it until I can finally get it through your head. Your weight does not matter. It doesn't actually tell you anything about your body composition. It doesn't tell you how much water weight you're carrying. It doesn't tell you how toned you've gotten. It doesn't tell you that you've lost fat or gained muscle. I don't even weigh myself anymore because it doesn't matter. I have found other ways to monitor my progress, such as progress photos, how my clothes are fitting. Body measurements are a great way to monitor your progress. But weighing yourself? Not so much.

Number two, your ideal weight. Let's be real. Your ideal way is a random number that you pulled out of thin air and it literally has no validity to it. This number is something you simply think that you should weigh and you're likely bending over backwards to reach this weight or obsessing about it. It's consuming all of your thoughts. But to be honest, it's just a random number that you pulled out of thin air. This number could be a number that you previously weighed 10 years ago. This number could be a number that you saw somebody else weigh. This number could be a number that you maybe heard from somebody that at that height, that they weighed this, so maybe that's what you need to weigh. This number is pointless. My personal ideal weight is whatever it is after I honor my body with movement and nourish my body with what it needs. It's as simple as that.

Number three, how much someone else weighs. Just because someone else weighs 110 pounds doesn't mean you should weigh 110 pounds. Every single body is different and you cannot compare your weight to somebody else's. I personally couldn't force my 5'9" body to weigh that much, no matter how much or how hard I tried, so I'm not going to make it goal.

Number four, the pant size you wear. The only person who can see the pant size that you wear is you, so you need to stop obsessing over it. Buy the size that actually fits you and stop trying to squeeze into a smaller size, just for the sake of squeezing into a smaller size. It's not like you're walking down the street with a sign over your head highlighting what size you wear. Only you know what size that is. I'm also here to remind you that general sizing varies from company to company, so don't even stress over that. I know I personally wear a size 8 or 10 in some brands and a 4 and 6 in others. At this point in my life and in my journey, all I care about is that whatever I'm wearing actually fits me and makes me feel comfortable and confident in that piece of clothing.

Number five, the pant size that you used to wear? Who cares? You've changed, your life has changed, and your pants size has changed, too. Don't live in the past. Live in the now. Dwelling on the past will do no good. Accept what it is, let go of what was, and have faith in what will be. At some point, you have to realize that the past is gone for a reason and the best way to move forward is to not dwell in the past.

Number six, the pant size somebody else wears. Again, who cares about somebody else's pant size? It doesn't even affect you, so let's move on.

Number seven, how many calories you've burned. Whatever device is telling you how many calories you've burned is actually likely not accurate, so don't let it make you feel like you didn't work out hard enough when you feel like you did. Plus, if you're doing weightlifting or resistance training, you likely won't burn as many calories during your workout, but it actually helps you burn calories around the clock. Your fitness tracker though, it won't track that.

Number eight, how many calories somebody else burned. Do you see the common trend that I have going on? The numbers of other people have nothing to do with you. It's like comparing apples to oranges.

I love the saying, "I'm too busy watering my own grass to notice if yours is green," and I think that that's what we need to start doing. We need to start focusing more on ourselves and less on other people. Focus on your own strength, focus on your own progress, your own hard work. When you give it a hundred percent of your focus, you'll realize that you don't even have the energy to compare yourself to somebody else. Hear me loud and clear, my girl. These numbers do not matter, effective immediately.

Let me recap those eight numbers, because I don't want you to forget. Number one, how much you weigh. Number two, your ideal weight. Number three, how much somebody else ways. Number four, the pant size you wear. Number five, the pant size you used to wear. Number six, the pant size somebody else wears. Number seven, how many calories you burned. Number eight, how many calories somebody else burned. These numbers don't hold any value in your life that define your worth or your character, so stop comparing yourself to your past or to someone else. It's not worth your time.
