Let's go. [00:00:22][22.6]
[00:00:23] When the new year hits, it often makes us look where we are physically or where we want to be physically. And all of those goals that we make for the new year. And I'm sure most of you guys have made those goals, whether it's, you know, how much weight you want to lose or how many days a week you want to work out, or how you want to properly nourish your body or whatever it is. But here's the thing it's extremely hard to reach those physical goals if you don't have the right mindset in place. And in order to be successful, we need to focus on our mental health. And our mental strength is just as, if not more honestly important than our physical health and our physical strength. And so that's why in today's episode, I'm going to be sharing the final four mental goals that I recommend setting in 2024 to set yourself up for ultimate success. This is a two part series and this is part two. So if you haven't checked out part one, be sure to check that out after this podcast. You don't really necessarily have to go in order, but I think that you'll find it very beneficial. Before we dive in though, I want to share this review. [00:01:31][67.3]
[00:01:31] It comes from X and land. I don't know how to say that. I don't know how to say that properly, but she said practical and inspiring. My favorite part of the Embrace Your podcast is the variety yet consistency of every episode. There's a great variety of very practical tips and information that can be used to grow in physical and mental health, but also many episodes focusing on mindset and inspiration. This podcast is a great place to come for both physical and mental tips and easily implemented hacks, as well as more long term work. Julie melts all aspects of health and happiness beautifully, regardless of the episode topic. I always finish listening with a sense of peace, as well as a little fire under my booty to progress and grow. I also love her voice. I find it very soothing. This podcast is definitely worth a try. Whether you're just starting out on your health and fitness journey or you've been at it for a while, I love this so much. Thank you so much for this review. Honestly, I love hearing how you guys are benefiting from these episodes or this podcast in general, so thank you for taking time out of your day to send it in. Thank you so much for scooting over to Apple Podcasts and doing that. It really does help us out. So if you could, if you haven't already for the New Year, scooch over and let us know. Maybe a specific episode that lit a fire under your booty or made you think differently, or just how this podcast helps you overall in general, it would really help us out. So thank you, thank you, thank you for doing that. Okay, so before we get started, I want to recap the three mental goals I shared in part one. [00:03:00][88.6]
[00:03:00] And again, if you haven't tuned into that, I will link it in the show notes that you can easily go tune in after this episode. But number one, I said, stop fueling your smaller self and start chasing your best self. Number two, let go of things that you cannot control. And number three, embrace being strong, not skinny. So let's dive into the last four. So number four is to choose to focus on intention and determination rather than motivation for remaining consistent. Let me repeat that. Choose to focus on intention and determination rather than motivation for staying consistent. Motivation isn't reliable. I know so many of us think, oh, if I just had more motivation, I would actually reach my goals. But motivation isn't actually what's going to get you there. Motivation tends to fluctuate. It's so easily influenced by your emotions, your circumstances, your energy level, so many things. That means you're not always going to feel inspired or driven to take action. Therefore, you won't take action, leading to be super inconsistent. But when you prioritize intention, when you set clear and meaningful goals for yourself, you define a why and a particular goal and why that's important and how it aligns with your values and long term aspirations. By knowing this, this is going to give yourself purpose and direction, which is one of the most powerful driving forces. Even when all of your motivation is gone. By rooting your actions in your intention, you create this super deep and unbreakable commitment to yourself into your goals, which is much more reliable way, honestly, to stay focused on building the life that you want and becoming the person that you want. But also remember that determination can be just as powerful. Most of us say we need more, more motivation, but when we think about it, what we actually mean to say is that we just need more determination. [00:04:45][104.5]
[00:04:46] Because determination is is what gives you this crazy commitment to push through even when it's you have challenges coming your way, you have setbacks that seem impossible to get over. Determination gives you this willingness to keep going when motivation is out of the picture. So when you cultivate this determination, you're actually building that mental resilience, which is crucial for maintaining that consistency. Number five, remind yourself daily that you are capable. It is our doubt and our capabilities that stops us from ever reaching our full potential. Let me repeat that again. It is our doubt in our capabilities that stops us from ever reaching our full potential. It is our. Outs in our capabilities that hold us back from feeling confident, from feeling worthy. Feeling valuable, feeling strong. Feeling hopeful. But the truth is, you are capable. You are capable of way more than you realize. You actually don't give yourself a much enough credit by believing in your capabilities. That can totally change how you see things when you really trust in what you can do. It's like a shot of confidence straight to your self-esteem. You start thinking of yourself as someone who can handle stuff, who's good at things, who deserve success. And instead of being hung up on problems or roadblocks, you start looking at the silver lining in things. Challenges become opportunities for growth, not these scary obstacles. And this self-belief also revs up your motivation, right? You set big goals and you go after them full force because you you've got what it takes. You know that you've got what it takes. So this year, when you start to doubt your capabilities, I want you to take a moment and remind yourself that you are so much stronger than you realize. [00:06:26][100.4]
[00:06:27] Number six choose hope instead of worse possible outcomes. When you're constantly dwelling on these worst case scenario, this is going to trigger stress and anxiety, and it's ultimately going to crash your mental health and your physical health. And this is why one of the best things that we can do for ourself is to seek hope, is to feel hopeful and believe in hope. I know that that sounds way easier said than done, but by cultivating hope, this is what is ultimately going to build resilience, right? When you believe in brighter days, you're better able to cope with the challenges and setbacks that you'll face along the way, which will help you to bounce back from your setbacks, your obstacles, your adversity so much more easily because you know that there is still hope. No matter what you run into. There is hope. And when you stay hopeful, you're so much more able and likely to make the decision from a place of optimism and possibility rather than a place from fear and pessimism. And guess what? This will hands down lead to a better outcome, especially if you're focused on worse possible outcome. Our thoughts oftentimes manifest into reality, and if we are constantly focusing on this worst case scenario, the worst case scenario is likely going to happen. Most importantly, when you believe that the positive outcomes are possible, you're also more likely to take action. And when you take action, positive outcomes become possible because without action, you're going to close the door on these positive outcomes that could happen. So this year I want to challenge you to become more hopeful. Now some of some of you guys, this comes very natural. Either of you guys, you come always from a place of fear and pessimism, and maybe there was something in your life that led you to that place, or maybe you've always just been in that place. [00:08:08][101.1]
[00:08:09] But I want to challenge you this year to say, what is the possibility? Is it possible for me to focus and come from a place of positivity and say, you know, even if I'm going through hard times, even if this sucks right now, I'm going to trust and remain hopeful that there is a reason why this is happening. It's building resilience within me. It's allowing me to experience these things that maybe down the road, I'm able to teach other people about. And just coming from this place of positivity and optimism, I think can really open our eyes and expand just our view on what it is that we're going through, instead of just coming from this constant place of anxiety and fear and pessimism that is going to weigh us down. And lastly, number seven, prioritize spiritual health. So obviously this is going to be personal for every single person. But I find when I focus the most on my spiritual health, everything else starts to fall into place. Like what's destroying my mental health is no longer destroying it. My stress doesn't feel as stressful. My anxiety triggers don't make me feel as anxious, like focusing on God and His love for me and his never ending, always promising words in the Bible are honestly what brings me clarity to so many things, and it shows me that I am enough, that I am capable, that there is hope, that everything is okay because God is in control and he's sovereign. And so for me, what that looks like in this season of my life is following the Bible in 365. It's a brand new year, and I've done this a few years ago. I read the whole Bible in a year, and then the next year I tried to do it, and then I just kind of got sidetracked reading some other books. [00:09:46][98.0]
[00:09:47] And this year I recommitted to rereading it in a year. And I feel like you can honestly never read the Bible enough. Like reading the Bible is one thing, and then studying it and really learning the backstory in the context. Like, I mean, you could take a whole few months just studying and dissecting Genesis in and of itself, but I find that reading God's Word and making it become a habit in my life has been so transformative for me. And and just like anything like I talk about following a workout plan, I need to have a plan for me. So I signed up for the Bible in 365. You just got a Bible in 365.com. You can sign up for it there. I get daily texts and. It just says, okay, and you're going to be reading this from the Old Testament, either a psalm or a Proverbs, and this from the New Testament. And it takes, I don't know, 15 to 20 minutes. I always read from my NIV Bible, which has commentary which helps so, so much. And then I always do my journaling practice. So, stating to God what I'm grateful for, whether that's three things, five things, asking God for more wisdom and clarity in my life on some things, and then just, you know, praising him for the things that he's done. I think that's so important. And just having that, that practice every single morning. So reading the Bible, journaling and then spending some time in prayer and then recognizing, you know, I used to say, oh, I don't have time for prayer. The fact of the matter is, I mean, you can be talking to God all throughout every single part of your day. You're driving, you're talking to God. [00:11:13][85.7]
[00:11:13] You're working, you're talking to God. You're making breakfast, you're talking to God. You're brushing your teeth. You're talking to God. Like really making that a consistent dialog and not just limiting it to your Bible. Your devotion and journaling time has been so transformative in my life. So if you're looking for kind of a plan, again, I will link it. But it's Bible in 365.com. You can sign up and just get daily text. It's completely free. And that has been so transformative in my life in the past, and I know it's going to be so transformative as I head into 2024. So that is so, so important. But let me quickly recap the remaining four of the seven mental goals for 2024. Number four, choose to focus on intention and determination rather than motivation for remaining consistent. Number five reminding yourself daily that you are capable. Number six choosing hope instead of worse possible outcomes. And lastly, and most importantly, number seven prioritizing spiritual health. If you love this episode and you haven't yet, listen to part one. I highly recommend going back and tuning in to that. I will link that in the show notes that you can easily go tune in to that. And then if you also love this episode, I know you will love episode 62. Ten things on My Mental Health Checklist. And the other link that I show you in my show notes is that Bible in 365.com so that you can sign up. And again, it's just it guides you through the Bible in a year. So if you can commit to 20 to 30 minutes a day, you know, there's some days where I'm traveling and I have to double up. It's just one of those things, just like workouts, just like nutrition holds me accountable when I'm following a plan and when it's getting sent directly to my phone every single morning. [00:12:48][95.0]
[00:12:48] I have it sent at 4:00 am. So, you know, when I wake up, it's it's already there. I already know what I'm going to be reading and it just gives me that guide. And before you know it, by the end of the year, you're going to have read the entire Bible from start to finish, which is so encouraging. So that is all that I have for today's episode. I hope that this was helpful for you. I love you so dang much. I mean it and I'll talk to you in the next one. I love you all right, sister, that's all I got for you today. But I have two things that I need you to do. First thing, if you're not already following me on the gram, be sure to do so. Julie, a lot better. Yes, it's within a in the middle for that daily post workout. Real talk, healthy tips and tricks, and honest accountability to keep your mind and heart in check. The second thing, be sure to subscribe to Apple Podcasts to never miss an episode. Thank you so much for joining me. It means the absolute world, and I'm going to leave you with one last thought. The most beautiful women that I have met in my life are the ones who are completely confident and secure in being authentically themselves. Remember that beauty goes so much deeper than the surface, so go out there and embrace real because you're worth it if you're. [00:12:48][0.0]
