LISTEN: APPLE PODCASTS | SPOTIFY | STITCHER

Have you ever wondered how embracing the natural changes in your body can lead to a happier, more fulfilling life? It’s a profound shift that can transform the way you see yourself and your journey.

In this episode of Embrace Your Real, I dive into this powerful concept in the second part of our transformative series. As women, our bodies undergo remarkable changes from puberty to menopause. In our first episode, we talked about recognizing and celebrating these changes with self-love rather than bowing to societal expectations. Today, we take this discussion further by honoring the incredible functionality of our bodies. After all, our bodies are what allow us to breathe, move, and experience the richness of life.

Embracing and respecting your body’s natural evolution helps you find self-acceptance and recognize that your true value lies far beyond the surface. Let’s celebrate your body for all it does and love yourself every step of the way!

[00:00:32] Hello and welcome back to part two of our two part series on really learning how to accept your changing body. So like I said in part one, change is a natural part of life and our bodies reflect this constant evolution, right? As women, we go through so many changes in our lives from puberty to pregnancy, the menopause and beyond. We are going through so many phases, and it's important that we recognize that change is an inevitable part of our life, and our bodies are a reflection of this constant evolution. And so by accepting and embracing these changes, we can develop a deeper appreciation for our bodies and all that they do for us. And so, like I mentioned, this is part two of the two part series. I'll go ahead and link part one in the show notes. You can go tune in after today's episode, but in part one I discuss number one, how change is natural. Number two, how as your body changes, remember that your worth is not found in your body. And last but not least, number three. Remember that when your body changes, sometimes your body is trying to tell you something, so be self-aware enough to listen to that. Before we dive into these last three reminders, I want to share a review with you. It comes from my dogs. My BFF. Hey Sam, my dogs plural are my BFF. She gave a five star review and said hey man, Julie finding Julie's workout app, podcast and social media has changed my life for the better. Not only did she reconnect me with my relationship with God, but she's helping me be a better woman for the sake of my daughter. My daughter now has a mom who loves and respects herself, and I cannot wait to teach her everything I've learned from Julie. So thankful for you! P.S. my username is pronounced Annie says hi. Oh well. Annie says hi. Also, my dog is my BFF. Love both of those. I love this so much. The fact that your daughter is now going to have a mom who loves and respects herself, that is beautiful and something I pray for my son. I pray that my son will be able to have a mom who loves and respects herself, and he will learn all of the things from both me and Joshua. And so thank you so much for taking time out of your day to send in that review. If you guys could scooch over to Apple Podcasts and leave a rating interview, that would mean the absolute world to me and our team. You can go to Apple podcast type and embrace your real and scroll all the way down and leave that rating and review there. Okay, let's dive into the last three reminders about changing your body. Number four, it's okay to want to change your body. And this might be an unpopular opinion, but desiring to change aspects of your body is perfectly normal. What matters is that these changes come from a place of self-love and respect, not from the societal pressure or self-criticism. Right? We all have aspects of our body that we might want to change, and that's completely okay. Whether this is through exercise or diet, skincare, even cosmetic procedures that maybe you want to improve or alter. It's a personal choice. And what's most important is that these desires stem from a positive place, right? Change should be motivated by this self-acceptance and desire to feel your best, rather than this societal pressure or this sense of inadequacy. So when you approach change from a place of self-respect, you're most likely going to make choices that are healthy and sustainable and actually make you feel good instead of wanting you to strive, you know, wanting to strive more and more and more. For instance, if you want to lose weight, focus on the benefits of feeling more energetic, improving your health, rather than just simply fitting into a smaller dress size. If you want to enhance your appearance, do it because it makes you feel good. You want to feel good about yourself, not because you feel like you have to meet somebody else's standards. Number five appreciate what your body does for you daily. This is so important because when you're struggling to accept your changing body, it's important for you to focus on what your body can do rather than just how it looks. It's so, so important to regularly celebrate your ability to move, your ability to breathe, your ability to experience the world. Our bodies are remarkable machines, and I want you to remember that they can perform countless functions every day to keep us alive and to thrive. From simple act of breathing to the complex coordination of movement, our bodies work tirelessly every single day to support us, and that is something that we should celebrate, and that is something that we should appreciate. So you need to take the moment to do so. It allows you to walk. It allows you to run. It allows you to dance. It allows you to play. It allows you to be with your friends, your family, your loved ones. It lets you see the beauty of the world, hear the sounds of nature. For some of you taste delicious foods. Feel the warmth of a hug. Your body is your vehicle for experiencing life. No matter if it has changed or not, you will still experience all these things to the fullest. And so by shifting your focus from appearance to functionality, you can develop this greater sense of gratitude for your body. Celebrate your strengths, celebrate its capabilities, and acknowledge the amazing things that it does and allows for. Are you on a daily basis? And last but not least, a changing body doesn't have to change your happiness. Your happiness and your body don't have to be directly correlated because at the end of the day, true happiness doesn't come any ways from looking a certain way, losing more weight, reducing some of the cellulite, reversing some of your wrinkles all. At the end of the day, those have no direct correlation with your true happiness. It will only give you temporary, fleeting happiness because at your core, you cannot change who you are, right? You cannot change who you are or who you are. And that's so important. So if you want to find that true happiness, you need to look within instead of outward what is truly causing your happiness. Continue to dig until you find it. More often than not, it's not the changing body. Your body is just easy to blame for the feelings of unhappiness. Here's the most important thing that you need to know is that happiness is not something that can be attained through physical perfection. It is a state of mind that is cultivated through your thoughts, relationships, and activities. So what I want you to do is focus on nurturing your inner happiness, spend time with loved ones, pursue your passions, engage in activities that truly bring you joy, and develop this positive mindset and practice self-compassion. And when you can find that contentment within yourself, it radiates outwards and enhances every other aspect of your life. Remember again that your body is just one part of who you are. True happiness comes from embracing your whole self, body, mind and spirit. So all in all, embracing a changing body. Yes, that can be challenging, but these reminders, I believe, can help you find peace within where you are now, while still acknowledging and respecting your desires for change. Your body is your lifelong companion. It's the only companion that will be with you from the day you are born, to the day you depart this earth. So I want you to treat it with the love and respect that it deserves. Your body is beautiful. It's dynamic, it's resilient. So I want you to embrace the changes, honor its capabilities, and nurture it with love and respect. You are so much more than your physical appearance. You are unique and you are valuable, and you are worthy of happiness and self-acceptance. And knowing that you provide so much into this world. You are a gift to so many people in this world. So let me quickly recap what I talked about in today's episode. The remainder of the three reminders about changing your body. So number four, it's okay to want to change your body. Number five, appreciate what your body does for you daily. And lastly, number six, a changing body doesn't have to change your happiness. If you love this episode, I know you will also love episode 318. How much of your life is for the gram? I get real and raw on that podcast so be sure to tune in.
