Episode 102: 2 Questions You Need to Ask Yourself About Your Future

I believe that so many of us struggle to align our actions with our goals, but we continue to make choices that don't align with what we really want for our future. We continue to fail to take initiative to actually make things happen that need to happen in order for us to get there.

But how do we break this pattern? How do we actually align our actions with our goals? That’s exactly what I want to talk to you about in this episode!

Hello, hello and welcome back to another bonus episode of the Embrace Your Real Podcast. So if you have someone in your life that you feel like is in that boat, whether that's alongside of you or is just in that boat, I encourage you to send this episode to them. It's going to be quick spitfire for you and for them to live the life that you are destined to live.

No matter what it is that you're struggling to start doing, I want to share three reminders with you that I think will help put things into perspective for you and help give you the push that you need to keep going. But before I share these three reminders, it would mean the absolute world to me if you took one second and press subscribe to this podcast on Apple Podcasts. If you haven't, that is the big purple button. You just hit subscribe. Once you do, it will ensure that you never miss an episode and you will be committed to your journey of building a healthy relationship with your body, yourself, food and fitness.

All right. Now let's dive into these three reminders. Number one, remember that there is no right time. There is only time and how you spend it. So many of us wait for the perfect time to start. I'll start once life gets less busy. I'll start once I feel like I have more energy. I'll start after vacation, or after this big project at work, or after my kids' soccer season, or the famous of them all, I will start on Monday. Newsflash girl, life never gets less busy. Starting will actually give you more energy, and there's always going to be an excuse to push back your start date. That's why there's no right time, that simply does not exist. The only thing that exists is time, period. What exists is the 24 hours that you are given every single day and also how you are spending those 24 hours.

So if you're sitting around waiting for the right time and using it as an excuse, I hate to break it to you, but that excuse is not valid. You need to look at how you're spending your days, determine what is the priority and make it happen and make it a non-negotiable. You are only promised these 24 hours, not even these next 24 hours. You are promised the moment that you were in right now. So right in this moment, ask yourself the question. Maybe you've asked yourself this before. Maybe you've never asked yourself this before. What is my priorities in life and how am I going to make that happen and how am I going to make those non-negotiables so that I can actually start working towards the goals that I have?

Number two, if you want to be different, you need to make different choices. So many of us want our bodies to be different. We want our lives to be different. We want our relationship with ourselves or food or fitness or significant other or family to be different. But what do we do about it? We keep repeating the same thing and what we're repeating isn't working, but for some reason, we just keep repeating it. Why do we do that? Why do we think that the next time will be the time it actually sticks or it actually works or it actually changes everything in our lives? This is the definition of insanity. It's literally the definition, repeating the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.

The fact is changing something in our lives requires us to change what we're doing. If we want to be different, if we want to feel different, if we want to experience something different or see something different, we need to do something different. So I want to know what in your life do you keep repeating, expecting different results? How can you switch that up? How can you try something new? What can you do differently next time to work towards the goals and things that you have your eyes set on?

Number three, each day can be the beginning of anything you want. The beautiful thing about life is that it is your life. You get to decide what you want to do with it and you get to decide who you want to be in your own life. Each day offers you a new opportunity for that decision. Each day, you get to, you have the opportunity to decide how you will live it in your life. So if one day didn't go how you wanted it to, if one day you were unhappy, if one day you didn't make the best decisions, you don't need to stay there. You don't need to get stuck. You don't need to wallow in it. You don't need to make it a pattern. You simply don't need to because tomorrow you can change.

Tomorrow can be a new beginning. Tomorrow, you have the opportunity to choose to live differently. All you have to do is leave yesterday behind and actively decide what you want your today to be and what you want your tomorrow to be. How beautiful is that? But you have to actively decide that. You have to take the action. You have to take control, because how you live your life is within your control. So you need to start taking control. However, we can't always immediately change what we're doing or how we're feeling, but we can always change how we view what we're doing and how we're feeling. And how we view things is the step that will initiate the momentum you need to actually change everything else.

Let me recap those three reminders. Number one, there is no right time. There is only time and how you spend it. Number two, if you want to be different, you need to make different choices. And number three, every day can be the beginning of anything you want.

I read a quote recently on this very topic and I found it very just motivating and inspirational and very much about this topic. Start now. Start where you are. Start with fear. Start with pain. Start with doubt. Start with your hands shaking. Start with voice trembling but start. Start and don't stop. Start where you are with what you have. Just start.
